The driver will drop you off at the square in front of Hotel El Parador. From there, it is easy to explore the village on foot—it is very small.

Things to do in Chaouen

  • You can hike up to the viewpoint for a panoramic view of the city. To get there, walk through the blue-painted streets, stay to the right until you reach a waterfall where local women do laundry. Then, cross the bridge and continue climbing up to the viewpoint at the old Spanish mosque. It is a short hike but offers spectacular views.
  • There is a trail leading to the famous plantations.
  • In the Chaouen souk, you will find a wide variety of products such as lamps, tapestries, tea sets, leather, and silver items.
  • Visit Uta el-Hammam Square and the Kasbah, the central square and heart of the Medina. Here you can relax in a café and visit the Kasbah, an old fortress with gardens and a tower offering views of the city.

    Our recommendations:

*The currency in Morocco is DIRHAMS, but euros are also accepted. Carry €1 coins and small bills (€5, €10, €20) to make purchases more easily. Changing currency is not recommended, as you’ll incur a commission fee.

*If you have a food allergy, please inform the restaurant waiter, and they will offer a simple alternative. If you’d like, bring a backpack with food and drinks (it’s a long day).

*We recommend bringing sun protection, a cap, a coat, comfortable footwear, and medicine (e.g., Dramamine) to prevent seasickness.

*If you need to park your car, we recommend arriving 1.30 hours before departure. We can provide information on parking areas.

*Bring a pen to fill out the form on the boat.

*Put your phone in airplane mode to avoid additional charges (€20).
