Itinerary

Daily Departures to Chaouen

(Except on local holidays in Morocco. Schedule may be adjusted if the ferry is delayed.)

07:00 – Meeting at the Maritime Station in Tarifa Port.

08:00 – Ferry departure.

09:00 – Private car transfer to Chaouen (approx. 2-hour drive).

Upon arrival in Morocco, you will travel by private car to the charming village of Chaouen. The journey takes about two hours. We recommend making a stop halfway for a snack at a cafeteria overlooking a beautiful mountain lake—please remind the driver, as he may forget to stop.

The driver will drop you off in the square in front of El Parador Hotel, where your local guide will welcome you. You will then begin a walking tour through the picturesque streets of Chaouen.

What to See in Chaouen

  • You can hike up to the viewpoint to enjoy a panoramic view of the city. To get there, walk through the blue-painted streets, keep to the right until you reach a waterfall where local women often do their laundry. Then, cross the bridge and continue climbing up to the viewpoint near the old Spanish mosque. It is a short hike but offers spectacular views.
  • There is a trail that leads to the famous plantations.
  • In Chaouen’s souk, you will find a wide variety of products such as lamps, carpets, tea sets, leather goods, and silver items.
  • Visit Uta el-Hammam Square and the Kasbah, the central square and the heart of the medina. Here, you can relax at a café and visit the Kasbah, an ancient fortress with gardens and a tower offering views of the city.

15:00 – Lunch at a Traditional Restaurant (Included, Drinks Not Included)

Menu:

  • Harira (traditional Moroccan soup).
  • Couscous with chicken stew.
  • Lamb or chicken skewers.
  • Moroccan tea with pastries.

After lunch, enjoy some free time in the Souk, where you can explore a variety of local handicrafts, including lamps, tapestries, tea sets, leather goods, and silver jewelry. You can also purchase tea, spices, nuts, and dates.

Our recommendations:

*The currency in Morocco is DIRHAMS, but euros are also accepted. Carry €1 coins and small bills (€5, €10, €20) to make purchases more easily. Changing currency is not recommended, as you’ll incur a commission fee.

*If you have a food allergy, please inform the restaurant waiter, and they will offer a simple alternative. If you’d like, bring a backpack with food and drinks (it’s a long day).

*We recommend bringing sun protection, a cap, a coat, comfortable footwear, and medicine (e.g., Dramamine) to prevent seasickness.

*If you need to park your car, we recommend arriving 1.30 hours before departure. We can provide information on parking areas.

*Bring a pen to fill out the form on the boat.

*Put your phone in airplane mode to avoid additional charges (€20).
