Experience an incredible adventure as we head to the bluefin tuna fishing zone, just off the coast of Tangier, where orcas indulge in their favorite food. It’s a fascinating spectacle to watch how these majestic creatures interact with the fishermen to capture the tuna.

Although orcas aren’t always spotted, don’t worry, as you’ll also have the opportunity to observe other amazing marine species that inhabit the area:

• Spinner dolphins and pilot whales: year-round.
• Sperm whales and fin whales: spring, early summer, and autumn.
• Killer whales: summer.

During the trip, you will have the guidance of a biologist-guide, who will provide explanations and answer any questions.

Itinerary

Our adventure begins at the Tarifa harbor, where we welcome you directly onto the boat, ensuring everything is ready for the journey.

We navigate the waters of the Strait of Gibraltar, a unique location for cetacean watching, where it's possible to observe up to seven different species throughout the year:

• Common, striped, and bottlenose dolphins
• Pilot whales
• Sperm whales
• Fin whales
• Killer whales

Our route takes us between the coasts of Tarifa and Morocco, following the natural paths of these impressive marine mammals. On most outings, we get closer to the African coast, where the conditions are usually optimal for observation.

***The departure time for orca watching may be adjusted based on the time they were spotted the previous day, in order to maximize the chances of an encounter. The company will contact you no later than the day before to inform you of any changes!!!

Meeting point

The meeting point is at the Tarifa harbor, dock number 2. You must arrive at least 30 minutes before boarding.

Warranty

The probability of spotting at least one species is 95%. If no species are spotted (whale or dolphin) on the first attempt, we will invite you to a free outing to ensure you can enjoy the experience.

Confirmation of the trips is made on the same day in the morning, depending on weather conditions. To avoid a wasted trip to Tarifa, the customer can contact TARIFA EXPERIENCE before leaving home, on the same day of the excursion, by calling +34 633 108 807 to confirm the trip.

Sustainability:

The sightings are carried out in compliance with current regulations, maintaining the established distances to ensure respect and protection of the animals and their natural environment.

CANCELLATIONS:

The customer can change the date of the excursion at no cost up to 48 hours before the reservation, and also has the option to reschedule for the following year.

If you cancel at least 48 hours before boarding, we will refund 95% of the total amount paid.

(If weather conditions are adverse and we must cancel the trip, we will offer a new date or refund the full amount).

Characteristics of the boat

Our vessel, due to its design, allows for sightings very close to the water's surface, offering total proximity to the animals. On board, we have life jackets for all passengers and provide waterproof windbreakers for added comfort. The boat has a design similar to that of Maritime Rescue boats, ensuring maximum safety for navigation.

Warnings

The customer must call on the same day of the departure to confirm the excursion. The schedules may change at the last minute or even the trip may be canceled due to bad weather.

Recommendations:

Sunscreen, a hat, warm clothing, and comfortable footwear are essential to be prepared for the sea conditions.

If you are prone to motion sickness, we recommend taking preventive medicine, such as Dramamine, before the departure.

If you need to park your car in Tarifa, arrive 2 hours before departure. We will be happy to inform you about available parking areas to make your arrival easier and quicker.
