What does it consist of?

ONLY IN JULY AND AGUST: Exclusive Orca Search Excursion:

Experience an incredible adventure as we head to the bluefin tuna fishing zone, just off the coast of Tangier, where orcas indulge in their favorite food. It’s a fascinating spectacle to watch how these majestic creatures interact with the fishermen to capture the tuna.

Although orcas aren’t always spotted, don’t worry, as you’ll also have the opportunity to observe other amazing marine species that inhabit the area:

• Dolphins and pilot whales: year-round.
• Sperm whales and fin whales: spring, early summer, and autumn.
• Orcas: summer.

Educational information

On board, you will find notebooks and posters with additional details about the cetaceans, as well as the birds and ecosystems of the area.

Additionally, during the journey, you will have the guidance of a biologist-guide, who will provide explanations and answer any questions you may have.

Itinerary

Our adventure begins at the port of Tarifa, where we greet you and accompany you from our shop to the boat, making sure everything is ready for the journey.

We navigate the waters of the Strait of Gibraltar, a unique location for cetacean watching, where it is possible to spot up to seven different species throughout the year:

• Common, striped, and bottlenose dolphins
• Pilot whales
• Sperm whales
• Fin whales
• Orcas

Our journey takes us between the coasts of Tarifa and Morocco, following the natural routes of these impressive marine mammals. On most outings, we approach the African coast, where the conditions are typically optimal for observation.

***The departure time for orca watching may be adjusted based on the time they were spotted the previous day, in order to maximize the chances of an encounter. The company will contact you no later than the day before to inform you of any changes!!!

Meeting point

It is essential to book in advance to secure your spot on the excursion. Additionally, you must bring your boarding pass number visible on your phone to speed up the check-in process.

The meeting point is at Calle Alcalde Juan Núñez, 3, 11380 Tarifa, Cádiz. To ensure a timely departure, we recommend arriving at least 60 minutes before departure.

Parking in Tarifa can be challenging, especially during high season. In the summer and during holiday weekends, we advise arriving 2 hours in advance to find parking without issues.

For added convenience, we suggest using the Municipal Parking, which costs less than 1€ per hour.

Warranty

The probability of spotting orcas is 65%. In the event that no orca is spotted you will have a 30% of discount for a future booking.

The confirmation of departures is made on the same day in the morning, depending on weather conditions. To avoid making a wasted trip to Tarifa, customers can contact TARIFA EXPERIENCE before leaving home, on the same day of the excursion, by calling the number +34 633 108 807 to obtain confirmation of the departure.

Sustainability:

The whale watching is carried out in compliance with the current regulations, maintaining the established distances to ensure the respect and protection of the animals and their natural environment.

Guarantee in case of boat cancellation: If the boat is canceled due to technical issues, the company offers the option to reschedule for the next available boat, as long as it is possible to do so.

The customer can also choose a new date or receive a full refund.

Cancellations and date changes:

The customer can change the excursion date free of charge up to the day before the reservation and also has the option to reschedule for the following year.

If the customer decides to cancel at least 48 hours before embarkation, they will receive a 95% refund of the total amount paid.

If the excursion is canceled due to adverse weather conditions, the customer will have the option to choose a new date or receive a full refund.

We have two vessels for the excursion, and the company decides which one to use based on the weather conditions to ensure the best experience.

The customer must call on the same day of the departure to confirm the excursion. The schedule may be subject to last-minute changes, or the departure may even be canceled due to bad weather.

Recommendations:

Sunscreen, hat, warm clothing, and comfortable shoes are essential to be prepared for the conditions at sea.

If you are prone to motion sickness, we recommend taking preventive medication such as biodramina before the departure.

If you need to park your car in Tarifa, we recommend arriving 2 hours before departure. We will be happy to inform you about the available parking areas to make your arrival easier and faster.
